How to do a toe touch. The toe touch is the well known jump in cheer leading. This jump is performed on the side lines, during performances and routines, and during cheers and sideline chants. Having flexibility through your hamstrings, lower back, and hips is helpful when trying to achieve the picture perfect toe touch. For the toe touch, we’re going to start in this position and we’re going to use counts to help us along the way. On one, we’re going to hit a high V, on two we’re going to hold, on three we’re going to swing our arms into this position with our legs bent. On four, we’re going to jump off the ground hitting a T motion bringing our legs up. On five, we’re in this position, we’re holding six. And on seven, we’re going to stand. Let’s do the toe touch to counts.

Ready? Five, six, seven, eight. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven. Great. When you’re performing your jump, when you hit your T motion, make sure that you chest is up and when your feet leave the ground that your legs are straight, you’re rolling your hips, and your toes are pointed. When you’re bringing your feet back together, make sure that your feet are all the way together and that there’s no space between your feet. And that’s how to do a toe touch.
